The CCS Type 1 was developed for the North American market based on SAE J1772 and IEC 62196-3. The universal CCS vehicle inlet permits both AC and DC charging.
Compared the European CCS Type 2, safety is guaranteed throughout the charging process with a lever locking mechanism. Once the lever is actuated, the charging process is immediately interrupted, making it impossible to withdraw the vehicle connector under load.
